CARDIFF BURLESQUE CLASSES

Teacher Viva Misadventure is currently on maternity leave.  Please email viva@burlesqueandcabaret.com to join the mailing list and information will be sent out when it becomes available.

Think Dita von Teese, Gypsy Rose Lee and Bettie Page – we will take you through peeling, posing and teasing!  Slip on your seamed stockings and opera gloves, as Viva Misadventure leads you through the glamorous world of retro burlesque-striptease, introducing you to the art of tease, tassel twirling and the inimitable bump ‘n’ grind.  You will be asked to bring different items of clothing each week, and we teach technique and then incorporate it all into dance routines, observing the concepts of character and narrative, as well as the bawdy nature of British burlesque. Our classes are guaranteed to make you feel sassy and confident, whisking you away into a world of glamour and humour – be prepared to realise your alter-ego!

Unsure? Here’s what some participants have to say about previous courses: “Sexy, sassy, fun filled sessions!” “A real boost to self esteem!” “Very inspirational course and full of fun. Great to lift the spirit at the end of a long day!” “A massive contributor to my new found confidence!” Check our Testimonials for more.

EUROPE

Burlesque School Milano

ABC’s Italian partner is the venerable, talented and beautiful Mitzi von Wolfgang, the founder and director of the first Italian school of burlesque, Burlesque School Milano.

Mitzi began her dance career in early ‘80s, specialising in Oriental and gypsy dance styles, training with famous international teachers and progressing into musical theatre, cabaret and the wider performing arts. Having fallen in love with neo-British burlesque, she undertook specialist training with Gypsy Charms in London with the aim of creating a Burlesque Academy in Italy that would allow Italians to train in the art form.

She has introduced periodical workshops with Gypsy Charms in Italy in an attempt to encourage and raise the levels of professional burlesque tuition.  Mitzi’s mission to bring high quality burlesque tuition to Italy has garnered support from the talented burlesque aficionado better known as the Ambassador of Burlesque  in Italy and founder of Burlesque Italia, the indomitable  Mr Attilio Reinhardt.

Germany

The Academy of Burlesque and Cabaret has been collaborating with the indefatigable Rent-A-Muse to bring burlesque and cabaret workshops to Germany since 2009.  Based in the Ruhr region, Rent-A-Muse (Yvonne Bentzinger) has spent a decade working in the creative industries.  She is a sought after burlesque/jazz singer and regularly DJs at swing and burlesque events in Germany.  After haven taken lessons with Gypsy Charms in London she decided the Germany needed a little bit of Gypsy’s brand of burlesque teaching.

Yvonne has hosted a series of Academy of Burlesque and Cabaret’s most popular workshops from burlesque beginners to Glamourama and Fan Dance.  Reports on these workshops have appeared in numerous print media such as the Bild Zeitung, Prinz Magazine, Dynamite Magazine, in online broadcasts by WAZ and on ZDF Regional television.  Gypsy (who is half-German) loves bringing the Academy’s burly mission to Germany.

Holland

We are proud to work with the electrifying Marco C. Buschman bringing fun and affordable burlesque workshops to Amsterdam in the Netherlands.   Marco is a tour de force in the Dutch burlesque scene and is responsible for events such as Burlesque Freakout, which has the well-deserved reputation of being one of the Netherlands’ best burlesque and cabaret themed events.

A man of many talents, Marco is a DJ, VJ, graphic designer, photographer and all-round creative talent.  We look forward to working with Marco and providing accessible, quality burlesque and cabaret instruction in association with his events.
